about

This song was created during one of the most trying times of my music career. Facing heavy scrutiny for decisions i made and people I chose to work with, it seemed that hatred and judgement were coming at me from all angles.

This song was the only way for me to make it through that period with my sanity.

For those who've hated or judged me I proudly give you "Speak Love"

lyrics

Verse 1:

Currently I'm chasing it, the dream that I'm embracing is the same one that MLK was awakened with.

I’m not a King but the movement that I bring is quite Majestic. This won't be so easily accepted!

Directed by a higher power don't you understand? I refuse to play into the judgment of another man. *Lawd*

The past is in the past to bring it back I won't demand, but now certain people’s jealousy has gotten out of hand.

Look, boundaries were overstepped and mouths were overran, but I simply turn the other cheek and show them what I am.

A man of higher character, their actions are nefarious, truth is that the hate is like the fuel we use to bury ya.

Message from a man who's not afraid of mass hysteria, I think you think you're justified but you're more like Brittany Spears to us.

That's all I'm going to say until the truth's revealed, and I am just a mirror exposing the lies that you conceal.

Chorus:

Love, sweet love, speak love, cause there is something more.

Love, sweet love, speak love, cause there is something more in store for us...

Verse 2:

I never knew that this was how it'd be. With more exposure comes more expression of hatred from people that I got surrounding me.

Guess everyone gets there turn to try and teach what I should learn, but they disguise opinions behind comments of concern.

No, I'll never claim accomplishment for things I haven't earned. But when it's me I'll say it's me and you will have to let it burn.

This is the path of the persecuted I am ready for my trial, I will elevate above and greet my judgment with a smile.

I won't be out here in public going nuts, that's not my style. Plus, that's just evidence for future haters to compile.

I'd rather starve them of attention and finish up my quarter mile, hit the finish line and celebrate while they are in denial.

Guess I'm feeling validation of my vision being realized, they like to hear themselves talk so they can feel wise.

Pure power never power trips that's word to Mos Def, you can say I made it I’ll just say I'm making progress.

Chorus:

Love, sweet love, speak love, cause there is something more.

Love, sweet love, speak love, cause there is something more in store for us...

Verse 3:

Here goes my lap of victory, ain't chasing fame, I'm after history, will I see it that is half the mystery.

I ain't want the crown but, now I'm looking at it differently. Success is so seductive now I'm flirting with a different me.

My two feet on the ground, above the clouds is where I'm meant to be. My words will move the crowd even after half of a century.

They will have to bow and show respect every time they mention me. This ain't arrogance this is exactly what ascension means.

You are now a witness to my process of re-centering; wash away the energy of hate before reentering.

There is no spoon; the only thing that really bends is me and that's why I embody everything thing that they pretend to be.

I’m a reflection of the message that was sent to me. Return to sender please that is my prayer while down on bended knee.

I'm a vegetarian that’s why I don't get into beef; the burden that I'm carrying reminds me why revenge is sweet.

Chorus:

Love, sweet love, speak love, cause there is something more.

Love, sweet love, speak love, cause there is something more in store for us...
